TRIUMPH TR6 PI, 1975

Supplied new by Arnold G Wilson of Leeds (official Triumph, Rover, Land-Rover and Aston Martin distributors) and first registered on 18th April 1975, this very low mileage, original UK market RHD TR6 enjoyed just one owner for the first 34 years of its life, passing to the second owner in 2009.

The substantial history file begins with the original sales invoice from Arnold Wilson and includes the original Triumph TR6 PI driver’s handbook (not a reproduction) and the original ‘Passport to Service’ book, showing the car to have been serviced initially by Wilsons. The car’s first MoT certificate, when it was three years old in 1978, is followed by annual certificates showing the car to have been lightly used over the ensuing 47 years, resulting in the very low, warranted mileage of just 23,500 miles.

This TR6 is highly original. The second owner, judging from invoices on file, nevertheless decided to attend to a small number of details which he clearly felt were letting the car down - these are predominantly areas which had clearly suffered as a result of the passage of time - an example being the replacement of the presumably failing seat foam (but the perfect original trim itself was retained). The result of the second owner’s efforts was a car which would be considered by most people to be in ‘concours’ condition, despite the extremely high degree of originality which he had skillfully managed to preserve.

More recently, the Triumph has had its fuel injection system comprehensively rebuilt and today the car performs just as its maker would have intended. Clearly the continued subject of detailed maintenance, the car continues its annual visit to the MoT tester, despite its Mot-exempt status.

In 2020 the car changed hands for just the second time in its life, entering the small collection of a clearly highly discerning individual.

This quite exceptional TR6 is accompanied by a BMI Heritage Certificate, aforementioned handbooks, large history file and duplicate set of keys.
