MG TF, 1954

Purchased new by a Mr Stanley Hughes and first registered to him on 22nd June 1954 in Central London, this original RHD home market MG TF remained in his ownership until he passed away in 1998. The car was then parked in a garage by his widow and there it remained until discovered and sold in 2011 to the clearly obsessive gentleman who then set about the restoration of this hitherto one owner car.

Boasting its original ‘matching’ body, chassis and engine numbers as well as its original registration number, the car was complete and original but clearly in need and deserving of a comprehensive restoration, which is exactly what it got.

Between 2011 and 2018, 157 HYN enjoyed a complete nut and bolt, body-off restoration which is fully documented in the large history file as well as photographically. Strict attention was paid to accuracy and so this car will appeal to the pedants as well as the perfectionists among us. No element of the car was not thoroughly restored or rebuilt, with all work being entrusted to well-known and highly respected specialists, each acknowledged to be amongst the best in their particular field of expertise.

It would simply not be possible to restore an MG TF for the cost of the asking price here, let alone the additional cost of finding and buying an untouched original one owner UK car - if such a thing even exists any more.

I can’t possibly say that this is the best example anywhere, but, even a hardened and uncompromising perfectionist like me is struggling to see how this car could be much (or any) better.
