LANCIA FULVIA SPORT ZAGATO 1.3S, 1972

An original RHD, UK supplied example of the Fulvia Sport, designed for Lancia by Ercole Spada at Zagato. Spada’s previous work had included the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato, and Alfa Romeos TZ1 & 2 and Giulietta SZ.

Available to special order only, this Zagato was purchased new and first registered on 5th September 1972 by one Dennis Thomas who specified the car in Rosso Palermo with black interior trim. The car wears its original colour scheme to this day and it is still fitted with its original matching numbers engine and five speed gearbox with first gear on its dog leg. Covering some 38,000 miles in his Lancia, Mr Thomas retained ownership until 1985 at which point it was acquired from the original owner by Jozef Czarnecki, a collector who immediately put the Lancia into storage, where it remained until being acquired by a prominent collector in 2014. The mileage at this point remained almost unchanged at 39,000 miles.

By now, the original red paint had aged and faded to an extent that decided the owner to have the paintwork carefully refinished. It was noted at the time, that the bodywork itself remained rust free. Following this light renovation, however, the car once again returned to storage. In 2020, KKX 463L was bought by, believe it or not, yet another collector, this time of all things Lancia and Alfa Romeo. The car was then entrusted to well-respected marque specialist Omicron Engineering, for a thorough mechanical overhaul. At Omicron, no mechanical area of the car was overlooked as part of this no-expense-spared recommission.

Thus it is that today, KKX 463L is ready, willing and highly able to be enjoyed in the way it has not been since 1985 - on the road. I, for one, would be heartened to see this beautiful example enjoyed in the way its maker intended.

With the mileage still standing at the remarkably low 39,995 miles, and with known and continuous history from new, this remains one of the few RHD Zagatos supplied new to the UK and one of even fewer remaining today.

In truly fine, and in many ways highly original, condition throughout, this must be one of the best value ways into coach built Italian ownership.

Supplied with the original tool kit complete with full complement of Lancia embossed tools, original Instruction Book (driver’s handbook) in English and Lancia Organizzazione Commerciale e di Assistenza book, as well as separate history file and UK V5C.
