JAGUAR E-TYPE 4.2 OPEN TWO-SEATER, 1969

An original RHD Series 2 E-Type Jaguar 4.2 Roadster, this car was supplied new by Jaguar agents CH Truman & Co Ltd. of Nottingham to its first owner and first registered on 10th September 1969.

Remaining with the first owner until 26th May 1980, the E-Type then passed into the hands of a lady, enjoying the registration 22BDM. The car was acquired two years later, passing into the ownership of a gentleman who would cherish the car for eleven years. Between 1993 and 2014 the car remained with another owner before passing into the hands of a committed and meticulous Jaguar collector who oversaw the concours restoration of this still original and unmolested example, with known history from new.

This Jaguar is unusual in having had just those four previous owners, each of whom is documented in the history file. The mileage today stands at just under 51,000 miles, with just over 2,000 of these having been covered since the restoration.

The standard of this restoration is deeply impressive, as it should be with some of the best people in their respective fields having been involved and with the amount of money expended. I’m not sure who deserves the first prize for workmanship - certainly the flawless coachwork is a contender - but my recommendation would be Suffolk & Turley’s interior, which I could happily admire and smell all day long. Suffolk & Turley are also responsible for the perfectly fitting hood and hood bag.

On the subject of cost, it would clearly not be remotely possible to buy any E-Type roadster, let alone an original UK car, and restore it to this standard for anything like the asking price here.

Finished in its original colour of Signal Red and with matching numbers throughout, the Jaguar is complete with JDHT Heritage Certificate, and its original and complete tool kit.

The car is presently UK registered and enjoys tax free passage within the EU. It is supplied with a UK registration document and current MoT test certificate.
